While Dale Earnhardt is remembered each year on the anniversary of his death, the forgotten children who die in the back seat of cars do not get the same recognition. To memorialize them we propose attending the Feburary 18th ceremony in Mooresville, N.C. where racing fans light tribute candles in honor of Dale.
We would light a car on fire to bring attention to those children who die of hyperthermia. We would also pass out singed Funshine Bears with the names of the children who had been forgotten and died that year. Attached to each one would be a deflated balloon, symbolizing the inability of the airbags to protect them, as well as their lack of life and breath as a result of their abandonment.
